Frank Salgado – “Frank Da Tank”
Resident MMA and Head Muay Thai Trainer


Frank Salgado was born and raised in San Diego, California. He started training MMA right out of High School at the world famous Ken Shamrock’s Lions Den.

He then began his training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Rodrigo Medieros. In 2001, he began training in Muay Thai at City Boxing with Melchor Menor and Ole Larsen, also Boxing with Roberto Garcia. In December of 2001, he traveled to Thailand and trained at the world renowned Jitti Gym in Bangkok. While at City Boxing Frank continued his Jiu Jitsu training with Dean Lister and Brandon Vera before making a move to the San Diego Fight Club, where he trained under Veteran Charlie Kohler.

Frank is currently Training at UND1SPUTED North Park doing Jiu Jitsu under Baret Yoshida while teaching Muay Thai there and at UND1SPUTED Point Loma.

Frank Salgado is currently an instructor in Muay Thai and MMA both at UND1SPUTED North Park and UND1SPUTED Point Loma, and is also available
for Private Instruction.


Phineas Nhlengethwa – “Lucky”
Resident Boxing Coach and Personal Trainer


In 1980, at the young age of 10 years, Phineas Nhlengethwa, otherwise known as “Lucky” became interested in boxing. In 1984, Lucky was runner up bantam weight division of the South Africa Amateur Boxing Union (Known as SABU).

One year later, he forfeited a fight because he didn’t make weight, but was nominated the best boxer in all the divisions during the SABU. That honor was later reinforced as Lucky reigned as the 1986-1988 middle weight champion
of the SABU. By 1989, Lucky exchanged his amateur status for a chance at becoming a professional boxer. aprofessionalboxer.

In the year 2000 he joined Harold Volbreght gym and became Brian Mitchell’s chief sparring partner. Brian Mitchell was the world champion at that time.
Two years later with 6 professional fights completed, Lucky moved to the United States to further pursue his boxing career. Over the next 5 years, he fought professionally ending with a record 10 wins, 5 losses and 3 draws. Finally, in 2007 Lucky decided it was time to hang up his gloves and focus
on passing on his skills.

Now as a dedicated trainer, Lucky is well-rounded in all boxing styles and continues to inspire his students. With 17 years experience, students who
train with Lucky benefit from his knowledge and passion for the sport.


Dustin Thornton
Resident Head Jiu-Jitsu Trainer


Dustin Thornton has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 8 years. He began his training at Combative Grappling Systems in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2001. He moved to San Diego in early 2005 to pursue his Dream of Learning, Excelling, and eventually Teaching Jiu Jitsu. Dustin trained at City Boxing under World Champion Mike Fowler and Brown Belt Brandon Vera. He also worked as their assistant for 2 years Teaching Classes and helping them with their classes.

In 2007 when Mike Fowler joined the Worldwide Fokai Familia he moved to Guam to teach at Purebred, an UND1SPUTED Sister Gym. Fowler recommended that Dustin switch his training to UND1SPUTED in San Diego under Baret Yoshida and he did transfer. As Dustin puts it, “I switched to the Best Gym in the Universe to train under a man I’d been watching on Grappling Videos forever…My Jiu Jitsu Idol, Baret Yoshida”.

In early 2008 Master Baret Promoted Dustin to the Rank of Purple Belt and trusted him enough that he sent Dustin to Coach an entire Jiu Jitsu Competition Team for Andy Wang’s affiliate School in Taipei, Taiwan. Dustin coached them all the way to First Place in the Taipei Invitational Jiu Jitsu Tournament. Dustin is also a 5 Time North American Grappling Association (N.A.G.A.) Champion, a Best of the West Champion, Gracie Classic Medalist, and the 2-Time Kumite Classic Champion. Dustin is the Resident Head Jiu Jitsu Trainer at UND1SPUTED Point Loma and has a full Mastery of the Philosophy, Technique, and Teaching style that Baret requires of a Baret Submissions Jiu Jitsu Program. He teaches all of the Jiu Jitsu Classes in Point Loma and is also available for Private Training.

Priest Smalls – “Tiger”
Resident Boxing Coach

Priest "Tiger" Smalls, also known by his fans as "The Pride of the Wild", began his Boxing career in New York City, drafted into the Training Camp of the greatest of all time Muhammad Ali. As an Amateur, Tiger became the 3 time New York State Golden Gloves Champion, and then by 1988 became the All-Armed Services Bantamweight Champion.

After turning Professional in 1992, he quickly captured the California and New York State USBA, WBO-INC, and WBO-NABO Featherweight Championship. In 2004, Tiger was awarded the interim WBO World Featherweight Championship, making him the first and only fighter to hold the WBO-INC, WBO-NABO, and WBO World Championship Simultaneously. This earned him the title WBO Featherweight “King”.

Tiger Smalls is still a very active fighter who over his illustrious career has amassed an astounding 112 wins, 27 losses, and 6 draws, with an amazing 70 Knockouts.
Tiger is in charge of both the Youth Boxing Program and UND1SPUTED’S Boxing Competition Team. He teaches multiple Boxing classes for UND1SPUTED North Park and UND1SPUTED Point Loma. He is also available for Private Instruction.

Eric Bartholomae
Muay Thai Trainer

Eric began his martial arts training in 1997 practicing Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Aikido, and Muay Thai in his hometown of Chicago. Upon moving to San Diego
in 2006, he resumed his training at Undisputed in North Park during the first 6 months their doors were open. He began competing and twice travelled to Thailand to further his training. While in Thailand, he trained with Muay Thai legends, Namsaknoi and Sangtiennoi, at Undisputed’s sister gym – Purebred Thailand. During his last trip, he fought professionally at the world famous Kata Stadium and won with an impressive 3rd round knockout via knee to the head from the Thai clinch.

Eric has also competed in numerous Jiu Jitsu tournaments as well as amateur MMA. He has trained under superstars and legends Tiger Smalls, Frank Salgado, War Machine, and Baret Yoshida under whom he has earned his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belt. After doing so, Eric stated, “It is my greatest accomplishment
to date.”

Eric teaches Muay Thai and is available for private training in Thai Boxing technique as well as cardio and strength conditioning for fighting.

He loves turtles and is also vegan – which he has chosen for his diet and lifestyle since 1996.

Kristen Karhio
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA Agatsu Kettlebell Certified


As a former college volleyball player and SDSU Track & Field Athlete, Kristen is no stranger to the world of competition or extreme training. She competed in Heptathlon, which includes the 100M Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Javelin, 200M, and 800M. As part of her training, she began power lifting, circuit training and kettlebells to stay in top condition. Much of her dedication and effort was recognized as she received the Coach’s Award 2007, Scholar Athlete Award, and the Mountain West Conference Scholar Athlete Award. In 2006, Kristen began instructing a Kettlebell class for Knockout Fitness in Mission Valley. As she wound up her college days, she became the SDSU Assistant Track & Field Coach for the Jumps Division/Strength & Conditioning in 2008.

She began working at UNDISPUTED North Park and Point Loma in 2008 as Kettlebell and Combat Conditioning instructor. To further continue her training, Kristen competed in the Tactical Strength Challenge in 2008, dead-lifting 285lbs. and completing 135 (16k /36lb) kettlebell snatches in 5 minutes. Later that year, she traveled to Thailand to train at the Tiger Muay Thai Camp in Phuket.

Kristen teaches the Kettlebell Classes and is lead trainer for the UFIT Camp (Undisputed Fitness Camp which is held year-round). Here through leadership and motivation, she is able to work closely with both male and female members on achieving their personal goals. She is also available for private training.

Jordan Clissold

Coming from an athletic background, Jordan Clissold brings his knowledge and experience to the plate. After playing college football for Baylor University, Jordan turned into a competitive boxer in 2005. At that time, he also taught boxing while still competing in local smokers.

With his Associates Degree in Sports Medicine from Houston Community College, his National Endurance & Sports Trainers Association Certification, and his P-Fit Certification/Degree from Baylor University, Jordan has been dedicated in the health & fitness field for over 5 years. His passion about fitness, health and whole body wellness is reflected in his approach to training. His belief is that every person is different and programs can be catered to individual needs.

Now also an MMA Fighter, in which he holds a (1-1) record, Jordan is a team trainer on the UFIT camps. With his NESTA Certification as a Personal Trainer, he is able to not only train, but consult people regarding nutrition. He is available for private instruction.

Sarah Anisman

Sarah is a Northern California native with a degree in Mass Communication from Menlo College. She began her Fitness career by completing the American Council on Exercise Certificate Program through the University of California at San Diego, where she received her education in fitness and nutrition, and is currently pursuing her Masters in Kinesiology/Sports Psychology at Cal State Long Beach. She is certified as a Personal Trainer through ACE as well as the American College of Sports Medicine, and spent 2 years as a Personal Trainer under Todd Durkin, world re-knowned Personal Trainer/Life Coach who has worked with the likes of LaDanian Tomlinson, Drew Breez, and Reggie Bush.

Her college sport career included Division I Crew at San Diego State University along with previous competition in Softball, Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball and Muay Thai, in which she has been training in for the past 5 years (two of which have been at Undisputed).

Sarah works with clients of all backgrounds/ages, from those who are just trying to get and stay fit to coaching and conditioning athletes, helping
them achieve and maintain their fitness and performance goals, and she is really excited about joining the Undisputed family!
